Dear San Diego ASTA members,
Our newsletter was “dark” in July, but now that we are gearing up for a busy fall season, I want to make sure you have all the details on our fabulous events, including our new BOOTCAMP educational workshops. Your San Diego ASTA board is working hard to make your job easier!
Mark your calendars:
August 14 — BOOTCAMP: Get strong on groups with trainers Holland America and Trafalgar/Insight at Seasons 52 UTC
September 11 — ASTA’s popular FALL FESTIVAL will have a similar format as your favorite Spring Fling. Supplier sponsorship is already sold out! We will meet at the Del Mar Hilton — watch for the invitation via email.
October 14 — BOOTCAMP: Discover all the best technology tricks with our expert members Drew, Vince and Adam, with Traveling Spoon. More details to come!
November 21 — Our annual ASTAPAC event, Friendsgiving, will feature a visit from one of our ASTA Washington Advocates. Hosted by Los Cabos Tourism and Marriott Hotels.
December 17 – Annual San Diego Travel Industry Holiday Party at Rancho Bernardo Inn. This year’s theme is Masquerade! You won’t want to miss this one!
FAMs:
We continue to work on exclusive destinations for our chapter, and we have been sending out invitations just for chapter members. If you haven’t been able to join us yet, we will have more opportunities coming soon. FAMs are members-only — encourage your TA friends to join San Diego ASTA so they can be included!
National ASTA:
Legislative Day in Washington DC next month is nearly sold out. Join me to walk the halls of Congress and meet with our representatives! Register at ASTA.org. Remember, ASTA is the ONLY organization that fights for travel industry against unfair government policies and regulations. Can’t attend? Donate to ASTA’s lobbying arm, ASTAPAC. Click on the link below and be sure to select San Diego in the dropdown menu.
Several San Diego ASTA board members attended the pre-inaugural sailing of Utopia of the Seas in July. Onboard, ASTA held a gathering in the Royal Theater where I served on a panel discussion about the benefits of being an ASTA member. Check out our Facebook page for photos and videos of the event.
Email Snafus: Be sure to check your profile on ASTA.org to ensure you have given us permission to send emails AND that your email address is up to date. We are seeing a LOT of email bounce backs and have also heard some of you are not receiving invitations or announcements due to incorrect information.

Support ASTAPAC: It takes a village.
ASTAPAC is a special fund established under federal election laws to allow ASTA to collect voluntary contributions from members for the purpose of supporting political candidates and parties. ASTAPAC has been raising our political profile since 1979. Put simply, our advocacy successes are thanks to the travel agents and agencies who contribute to our PAC program.
